At PXL-Green & Tech the question was asked: “How can existing renewable technologies be combined to get to optimal energy flow of a HVAC-system?” To find an answer the campus in Diepenbeek was converted to a Living Lab. Heat pumps and solar systems got an upgrade with the addition of energy storage vessels (heating/cooling). The control system and monitoring for this hybrid system was set up by the students (junior colleagues).
The Sanilec Award jury was impressed by the scope of the project led by colleague Chris Hendrickx and executed by our junior colleagues. This project [Dutch] gives us a new and unique prospective for cooling, heating and ventilation. The trophy [Dutch] is therefore deserved.
